Bakers, chocolatiers and sugar crafters will have their stellar work showcased and judged by the likes of Paul Kelly, judge of the Great Irish Bake Off and Executive Pastry Chef of the Merrion Hotel and William Curley, a world-renowned Scottish patissier.

General manager of the Cork International Hotel, Carmel Lonergan, said the weekend’s appeal was elevated year-on-year and that the event has become "one of the major highlights, not just for the hotel, but for Cork as a region".

Mini tasting rooms, with 30-minute tasting sessions to gain a more in-depth culinary education regarding cocoa content within chocolate are also on offer, while budding young bakers can enjoy workshops in the children's zone.

Co-founder of the Cork Sugar Craft Association, Jacqueline Cullinane endorsed the event as a fun family day out:

"[Baking] is a wonderful craft to enjoy -- it truly brings out creativity you never even realised you had, and it becomes a real family affair with multiple generations able to enjoy it together".

She added, "once you get hooked, it’s hard to lose that passion that lasts a lifetime".
