A high-speed Garda chase took place today after two men in masks were intercepted at a house burglary in Rochestown.

A local from the Coach Hill area witnessed a dark-coloured Audi estate ram a Garda car out of the way following what seemed to be a house burglary in the area around 3.20pm.

The Garda car attempted to block the Audi from leaving the scene but the car drove into the Garda car, pushing it aside and causing some damage to the side of the vehicle.

The Gardaí then gave chase to the two masked men in the Audi down Coach Hill and onto the N40.

It is believed the car crashed at Bloomfield exit where the pair crossed the N40 on foot, ran through the marshland and are believed to be in the Mahon golf course.

Many gardaí are searching the golf course with the assistance of the dog unit.
