A man has been arrested in connection with a serious assault on Cork's Patrick's Street

A MAN is being questioned by gardaí about an assault last month which has left a man seriously ill in hospital.

The assault occurred close to the junction with Academy Street, shortly after 9pm on Thursday, September 12.

The victim, a man in his 40s, remains in Cork University Hospital, according to gardaí.

The man arrested this morning is also in his 40s.

He is being questioned at Gurranbraher garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
