A TEENAGER has been arrested in connection with a shop robbery where staff were threatened by a male with a hockey stick.
The incident took place at Parnell Place in the city centre on Monday afternoon and an armed male left the scene with a sum of money.
A statement from Gardaí this morning stated: “Gardaí have arrested a juvenile in his mid-teens in relation to a robbery at a shop on Parnell Place, Co. Cork on the 2nd September 2019.
“Shortly after 15:30, Gardaí in Anglesea Street received a report after a male armed with what is believed to be a hockey stick entered a shop on Parnell Place, threatened staff, and left the scene with a sum of cash.
“A description of the suspect was circulated to Gardaí on patrol in the area and he was arrested near the scene. He was detained at Bridewell Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 and has since been released. A file will be prepared under the Juvenile Diversion Programme.”
