A POPULAR Cork restaurants is to “freshen up” over Christmas with extensive renovations set to be carried out.
The White Rabbit on MacCurtain Street will close its doors on October 27, with a view to reopening in March 2020.
It’s to upgrade both the food and beverage services of the business, while also making better use of the available space.
“We’re trying to keep the overall feel of the place. We’re very happy with it. It’s more about making better use of the space we have. We have a bit of room upstairs which has gone largely unused since we opened,” owner of the White Rabbit Stephen Vaughan told The Echo.
The exact extent of the renovations isn’t set in stone as some structural work has to be carried out first, but a decision was made to close for Christmas.
“You don’t want to be messing up people’s plans for Christmas, so we took the decision not to try and force things,” Stephen said.
Meanwhile, staff have been helped source work and have been praised for their support: “They all know there’s a job there for them when we reopen.”
