IT may only be October, but preparations are well underway to ensure Cork is looking as festive as it can for Christmas 2019.
Cork City Council has just announced it will switch on the city’s Christmas lights on Sunday, November 17.
The event will take place from 6-7:30pm and the countdown will be on Patrick Street where the Lord Mayor of Cork, Councillor John Sheehan will do the honours.
Popular family attraction, Glow will return for another year officially opening on November 29.
The installation in Bishop Lucey Park will then run for the following dates from 4:30pm-8:30pm:
November 29 - December 1
December 6 - December 8
December 13 - December 15
December 20 - December 22
The delectable Food Market on Grand Parade will open from 12noon to 8.30pm with vendors serving the usual treats.
The Ferris Wheel will also return to the city for the festive period, remaining open until 9pm every evening.
