North Main Street stabbing: woman released by detectives as male suspect remains in custody
The stabbing happened on North Main Street.

GARDAÍ arrested a man and woman today in connection with a vicious stabbing on North Main Street earlier this month. 

A man in his 30s and a woman in her 20s were quizzed by detectives following the incident in which a man, aged 41, was stabbed a number of times as he sat in a car with a child. 

The attack happened at 10.45am on October 1.

Searches were carried out today by Detective Gardaí from the Serious Crime Unit, which resulted in the arrests.

The woman in her 20s was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Gurranabraher Garda Station.

She was released without charge this evening.

The man in his 30s was still being detained tonight at the Bridewell Garda Station.
