GARDAI probing the stabbing of a man in his car in North Main Street have arrested a man following a major search operation this morning in the city and suburbs.

The search operation got underway in Blarney, with further searches in the Gurranabraher area.

A man in his 30s was arrested in Gurranabraher and taken to the Bridewell garda station.

He is being questioned under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

The incident occurred on October 1 when the victim, a 41-year-old man, was sitting in a parked car on North Main Street when he was approached and stabbed a number of times.

A young child was with him in the car when the attack took place.

The attacker fled the scene on foot, in the direction of Adelaide Street.

The injured man was treated for non life threatening injuries in Cork University Hospital following the incident.
