Gardaí have arrested two young males in relation to an incident in Macroom earlier this month where two elderly women were knocked to the ground and a handbag was stolen.
Gardaí said the two juvenile males were arrested this morning following a search operation in the Macroom area.
They are currently being held in Macroom and Bandon Garda Stations under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
The incident took place on the afternoon of Tuesday September 17 in the grounds of Macroom castle.
The two women, one in her mid 90s and the other in her early 90s, were knocked to the ground and the males involved left the scene into Macroom Golf club and out onto the road at Sleeven Upper.
The woman in her 90s was brought to Cork University Hospital with minor injuries and has since been discharged.
The Gardaí had issued a number of appeals for information in relation to the incident before this morning's arrests.
