Traffic chaos hits Cork again; southside crash and northside breakdown causes long delays across city

TRAFFIC chaos hit Cork yet again this morning with a crash on the southside and a breakdown on the northside of the city causing delays to commuters.
Traffic is extremely slow on the N40 and approach routes due to an incident which involved a multi-vehicle collision on the south link westbound after Junction 9 Bloomfield, with heavy traffic backed up towards the Dunkettle Interchange and the M8 southbound. Commutes are also slow in the other direction from after Junction 6 on the Kinsale Road towards the Dunkettle Interchange.
As a result, a long queue from the N25 westbound from Junction 2 at Little Island onto Lower Glanmire Road city has developed through to the turn-off for the quays.
The N28 is very slow from before Carr's Hill through to the N40.
The North Ring Road is also backed up from Mayfield towards Blackpool; with reports of a breakdown on the N20 at Blackpool Shopping Centre.
Nearby Ballyhooly Road is also slow into the city from the Dublin Hill turn-off towards the quays.
