Migrants living in Direct Provision in Cork took to the water at the weekend for the special family fun day organised by Meitheal Mara.
The event took place at Fitzgerald's Park on Saturday.
Members of Naomhóga Chorcaí currach rowing club provided rowing trips on the river while food, face painting, music and dance workshop with Andrea Williams provided fun and entertainment onshore.
Clare Hayden, Bádóireacht Youth Programme Manager at Meitheal Mara said: “Meitheal Mara provides rowing and boat-building programmes for marginalised and socially excluded members of our community. We have been working with migrant groups for over two years now."
"The programmes have been incredibly successful with young people from direct provision accommodation centres having competed in the last two Ocean to City races while Meitheal Mara’s boat workshop currently contains a currach being worked on by adult migrants – the third such boat to be built by migrant groups over the past two years."
Saturday’s event was about creating opportunities for the wider migrant community to get involved.
"We called the event ‘All in the Same Boat’ because that is what it was all about – getting everyone out in boats together and having fun."
