If a regular 9-5 office job isn't your cup of tea, Fota Wildlife Park is currently accepting CVs for a Trainee Ranger position in the Animal Care Department.

The appointed person will look after a number of primate species, which includes endangered species like gibbons, spider monkeys and lemurs.

According to the job spec on their website, duties of the post include but are not limited to, carrying out observation work on the animals and learning as much as possible about them, preparing and distributing the diets of animals according to agreed practice and cleaning animal areas using the agreed procedures and time frames.

Compounding this, the successful candidate will report any animal health concerns to a more senior ranger and will also be responsible for cleanliness in enclosures, public viewing areas, and animal department areas.

Of course, the desired person is an animal lover and some experience of caring for domestic and/or exotic animals is a key requirement.

Additionally, they must be able to understand written and spoken English to take instructions, be physically fit enough for the role and flexible as regards to working hours.

The closing date for application is September 16 and you can apply via Fota's online application form if needed.
