Gardaí have arrested a woman in her 30s in relation to three theft from shop incidents in Cork city on Tuesday, December 3.
Shortly before 2pm yesterday, Gardaí received a report after a lady entered a shop on Patrick Street, and was believed to have stolen a number of items.
Gardaí carried out a patrol of the area and stopped a woman on Maylor Street.
She was found to be in possession of clothing, toys and cosmetics that had been stolen from three shops in the city, worth approximately €900. All of the items have since been returned to the shops.
The woman was arrested, brought to Bridewell Garda Station and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
She has since been charged and is due to appear before Cork District Court this morning, December 4 at 10:30am.
It is understood that one of the Gardaí involved in this incident was one of the new probationers who started in Anglesea Street on Monday.
It is believed he is also one of the members who will be permanently allocated to Anglesea Street from January 2, 2020.
