AFTER February 8 was announced as the date for the General Election, our reporter Roisin Burke took to the streets to ask the people of Cork who will be getting their number one in the polls.

HELEN O’SULLIVAN, BLACKPOOL:

"I will probably vote Fianna Fáil or the Green Party.

"Not Fine Gael, they are not doing anything.

"The three biggest issues for me are hospitals, homelessness and climate change.

"They are the three big things, I want action on those things."

JULIE NOLAN, FERMOY:

"I will be voting Fine Gael. They brought our country back from austerity and they have made all the right decisions since.

"The way they have dealt with Brexit is superb as well. There is no changing my mind, sure there is no alternative."

MAURA KINGSLEY, MODEL FARM ROAD:

"I am thinking of voting for Sinn Féin.

"I think they would fight for you more. Hospitals and homelessness are the main issues for me. Hospitals are awful at the moment. I go in a lot for appointments and I have seen it. I wouldn’t like to get sick."

MICHAEL AHERN, BARRETT’S BUILDINGS:

"Hospitals are chronic altogether. The number of people on trolleys is unbelievable.

"It is dire at the moment: a disaster.

"In my area, it will be John Maher from Labour I will be voting for. I spoke to him when he was canvassing for the by-elections and I was very impressed with him."

ALANNA COLLINS, LIMERICK:

"For me, climate change is the main thing.

"It is very scary what is happening, then homelessness and then people in Direct Provision. I want to see those things tackled. I think I will probably vote for the Green Party, definitely not Sinn Féin."

"Health and housing are the two main issues. I am sick of empty promises.

"Health has always been the big issue, they have never fixed it. I am definitely not voting Fine Gael. I don’t know who I will vote for, I will speak to who comes to the door."
