€70,000 worth of cocaine was seized by gardaí at Bessboro Road in Blackrock and now a man has confessed to drug-dealing charges arising out of the seizure.
33-year-old Martin McSweeney of 2 Elderwood Park, was arraigned at Cork Circuit Criminal Court where he pleaded guilty to three charges – possessing cocaine, having the drugs for sale or supply and having it when its street value exceeded €13,000.
The latter charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of ten years unless there are exceptional circumstances.
Mahon Corkery, defence barrister, said the accused had addiction issues but he was engaging positively with treatment services.
Judge Seán Ó Donnabháin adjourned sentencing until February 27.
