Gardai investigating Cork knifepoint burglary also probing neighbouring break-in
Gardai are investigating two burglaries on Old Youghal Road in Cork

GARDAI are continuing their investigations into an incident in which a man burgled a house while armed with a knife in Cork city.

The incident occurred in a house at St John's Terrace on Old Youghal Road in the early hours of New Year's Day.

The man is understood to have broken into the house at around 2.40am.

Nobody was injured but a number of items were stolen.

The incident occurred a short time after another burglary in a house on Old Youghal Road. In that incident, at around 2.25am, a number of items were taken from a garden shed and thrown around the back garden of the property.

A garda spokesman said that investigations are continuing in both, as gardaí seek to establish if there was a connection between the incidents.
