THE family of murder victim Francis 'Frankie' Dunne has raised more than €5,000 for homeless charities since his death.

The 64-year-old's dismembered body was found in the grounds of Castlegreina House on Boreenmanna Road on December 28. The popular Churchfield man had been living nearby in supported accommodation by Cork Simon.

After his gruesome murder, his family set up a Gofundme campaign to raise funds for Cork Simon.

They have now raised more than €5,100 through the campaign.

His niece Susan Marty updated the campaign page, saying: "Thank you all from the bottom of my heart to everyone who donated or even just shared , our hearts are broken in pieces , but to you all , on our darkest days you gave us a little bit of strength."

She said €4,000 will be donated to Cork Simon, "as they were also his family".

She added that the additional funds will be given to the Caring for Cork's Homeless group.

Mr Dunne was laid to rest last Wednesday in Blackrock, after requiem Mass in Knocknaheeny.
