Here are 10 upcoming Cork gigs you won't want to miss

Indeed, the remainder of 2019 will see some incredible acts playing Cork venues, and there's something for everyone!

We've compiled a list of some of the highlights in December (and two in early January) to keep you entertained over the festive period.

1) John Spillane - The Everyman, December 15:

The beloved Cork singer-songwriter plays The Everyman this Sunday, December 15 with special guests. 

This year marks Spillane’s 21st year of annual Christmas gigs at The Everyman. 

'The Dunnes Stores Girl' hitmaker will play an array of his classic hits along with new material from his forthcoming album.

Tickets €25.

2) Rebel Rebel 'The David Bowie Experience' - Crane Lane, December 17:

The genius of musical chameleon David Bowie will be paid tribute to by a vibrant six-piece band, taking to the stage of Crane Lane on Tuesday, December 17.

Bowie's most loved hits will be performed on the night, with Peter Quinn on lead vocals. 

Quinn's voice has long been compared to the late pop legend.

"I released an album of original material and it was instantly compared to Bowie. 

"It was something I had been told from the time I recorded my first demo tape, so when I was looking for a new project a Bowie tribute was the obvious direction," he said.

3) Yenkee - The Kino, December 21:

Graham Cooney is the mastermind behind Yenkee, a pop project inspired by artists such as Marvin Gaye, Rostam Batmanglij and Ariel Pink. 

Yenkee’s first release, 'Are You Alright?' has garnered over 35,000 streams on Spotify and was selected as The Point Of Everything's top five songs of 2018.

4) Mick Flannery - Bantry House, December 22:

Mick Flannery and his band will play a beautifully intimate concert 'Between the Hearths' on Sunday, December 22 in Bantry House after selling out winter solstice, December 21.

5) Declan O'Rourke - Live at St Luke's, December 27:

The Dublin native will be performing Live at St Lukes on Friday, December 27 as part of his Irish tour, a lovely gig to look forward to just two days after Christmas. 

The soulful folk musician is sure to put on a stunning show at the much-loved venue.

General admission to the gig is €30.27 with tickets available via uTicket.

6) The Blizzards - Cyprus Avenue, December 27:

Niall Breslin's pop punk band will take to the stage of Cyprus Avenue to play hits from their latest album, The Last Great Algorithm.

The Blizzards have had a busy 2019, touring the new album as well as releasing a documentary film, The Blizzards: Behind The Music.

7) Jenny Greene - Cyprus Avenue, December 27:

It's a hat-trick of gigs on December 27 as the 2FM DJ plays a late night set of diverse mix of house, electro and old school classics from 11pm in Cyprus Avenue.

8) Fish Go Deep - Cyprus Avenue, December 28:

After a fantastic Go Deep birthday bash in November Greg and Shane are returning to Cyprus Avenue for a Christmas special on December 28th. 

This is their only party in Cork city over the festive period and it's set to be a big one.

9) Abbaesque - Cyprus Avenue, January 3:

One of Ireland's best tribute bands will be gracing the stage at Cyprus Avenue as part of Women's Little Christmas weekender.

The group have been together for over 21 years, selling out over 150 concerts in venues across Ireland every year.

This one will be sure to beat any January blues that may creep in!

10) 'Frank' a tribute to Amy Winehouse - Crane Lane, January 5:

Cork singer Briony O'Toole returns to the Crane Lane with her stunning Amy Winehouse tribute gig on Sunday, January 5.

Briony's soulful voice will be accompanied by an incredible ten-piece band on the night.

The show has previously sold out the Crane Lane and Dali for the previous two years.
