Funeral arrangements announced for murdered student Cameron Blair

Murdered student Cameron Blair will be laid to rest on Sunday, as gardaí continue their investigation into his killing. 

Cameron, aged 20, from Ballinascarthy in West Cork, died last Thursday after he was stabbed in the neck at a party on Bandon Rd in Cork city.

He was a second-year chemical engineering student at Cork Institute of Technology and a past pupil of Bandon Grammar School and Hamilton High School in Bandon.

He was also a popular member of Bandon Rugby Club and the local athletics club. 

He had been living in student accommodation in Bishopstown.

He will be reposing at his home on Saturday from 10am and the funeral will take place on Sunday at 2pm in St Peter's Church, Bandon, followed by burial in Kilbeg Cemetery. 

In the death notice, Cameron was described as the beloved son of Noel and Kathy and loving brother of Alan. 

"Sadly missed by his heartbroken parents and brother, Grandmother Phyllis, cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family, neighbours and his many student and sporting friends," it said.

Gardaí investigating the murder have seized clothing and footwear for forensic examination as well as mobile phones belonging to some of those who attended the party.

Detectives say they are making good progress in the investigation.
