Man arrested and charged in connection with three burglaries in Cork city

Gardaí have arrested and charged a man in his 50s in relation to three burglaries at houses in the Lower Glanmire Road area of Cork city.

The burglaries occurred early yesterday morning.
Shortly after 4am, Gardaí received a report when a man had entered a house but was disturbed by the occupant.
Gardaí from Mayfield carried out an extensive patrol of the area and eventually found a man on Boherboy Road who was in possession of two torches and a screwdriver.
The man was arrested and brought to Mayfield Garda where he was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
Gardaí later received two further reports of burglaries that had occurred in the area.
The man has since been charged in relation to all three burglaries and is due to appear before Cork City District Court today.
