UPDATE: Petrol bomb attack that left newborn baby in hospital was the second petrol bomb thrown in 24 hours in the same estate

A baby boy was taken to hospital after a petrol bomb was thrown at a house in Mayfield.

A PETROL bomb attack that left an 11-week-old baby boy in hospital was the second such attack in 24 hours in the same housing estate.

A petrol bomb was thrown at the door of a house in Liffey Park, Mayfield, at around 10.20pm last night.

Around 24 hours earlier, a petrol bomb was thrown at a nearby house, landing in the front garden.

Both houses are occupied by members of the same family.

In last night's incident, an infant boy was taken to hospital as a precaution.

Nobody was injured in the attack and the baby was discharged this morning.

House-to-house enquiries are taking place in the area today.

No arrests have been made.

The child was taken to the Mercy University Hospital but was released this morning.
