A couple of weeks ago, Amy Lynch took to Facebook ahead of her daughter Jodie's birthday yesterday asking people to send a card to acknowledge her birthday.
Over 300 people responded to Amy's appeal, with cards still arriving.
"We didn't know the majority of people. The cards came from all over Ireland, America and Sweden.
"Some people also sent little gifts with the cards which was fab.
"Jodie even got an email from Michael D Higgins thanks to Sharon in her dance school, Joan Denise Moriarty School of Dance," Amy told.
Jodie, who has spina bifida as well as hydrocephalus and numerous other health issues has been self-isolating with her mum since the start of the Covid-19 crisis.
Amy says that Jodie is finding it challenging, but that yesterday really lifted her spirits.
"Jodie didn't have a clue it was all a big surprise.
"She was very upset as she thought her birthday was ruined so I decided to do something nice to cheer her up.
"She couldn't believe it. I had all the cards laid out before she got out of bed and told her close her eyes. She was so happy and overwhelmed," Amy said.
"It was amazing. People are so kind. It was a birthday we will both never forget."
