Updated: Busy morning on Cork commuter roads; number of crashes reported in city and county
Traffic from the M8 queuing at the Dunkettle Interchange this morning.

It is a busy and at times congested started to the day on many Cork roads this morning, in bright but cold conditions.

In the city, there is a collision on Western Rd near Sacred Heart Church and heavy traffic has backed up over Wellington Bridge and along Sunday’s Well Rd as a result.

It is slow on the M8 southbound approaching the Dunkettle Interchange. It is also slow approaching the Interchange on the N40 eastbound with delays back to J7 South Douglas Rd.

Traffic is slow on the N25 from Raffeen Bridge towards Shanbally Cross. In the opposite direction, there are inbound delays down Carrs Hill. South City Link Rd is slow from Turners Cross turn-off to Albert St.

The AA reports that traffic is busy in both directions, but particularly eastbound, on the N22 approaching works, just outside Farran on the Lissarda side.

There is also a very long eastbound queue on the N71 heading into Inishannon.

Meanwhile, a crash in Youghal is blocking Upr Cork Hill near the water tower.
