Man arrested in Cork city overnight in relation to thefts from cars and weapon possession

A MAN in his 20s was arrested overnight in connection with thefts from two cars and possession of a knife.

A Garda spokesperson said this morning: "Gardaí have arrested and charged a man in his 20s in relation to two theft from cars and possession of a knife in the Mahon area of Cork city on March 19, 2020.

"Shortly before 5am, Gardaí from Blackrock received a report of a suspicious man in Mahon Drive. Gardaí carried out a patrol of the area and arrested a man in his 20s. He was found to be in possession of tools and a bank card that had been stolen from cars in the area. The man was also found to be in possession of a knife.

"He was arrested and brought to Bridewell Garda Station. He was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 and has since been charged to appear before the courts at a later date."
