According to a statement on the University’s website and on its social media channels, the individual had visited the Western Gateway Building on the Western Road in recent days.

The building has been closed since last Thursday, with access restricted to critical personnel only.

It will undergo a deep-cleaning.

“Contact tracing is underway and anyone deemed to have had close contact with the individual is being be contacted directly by HSE Public health.

“The HSE has expressly advised that anyone who needs to be contacted by the HSE Public Health will be contacted directly, and you do not need to make contact with that department,” the University said in a statement.

It added that HSE Public Health will have appropriate public health advice for those in close contact with the confirmed case.

It acknowledged that students and staff will have concerns and directed individuals to the HSE website.
