Two men being questioned about Grenagh armed robbery
An armed robbery was foiled this morning in Grenagh

TWO men are in custody this afternoon after staff and customers of a shop in Grenagh foiled an attempted raid this morning.

Costcutters in the village was targeted at 8.30am when one man went into the shop and tried to take cash. People in the shop at the time managed to apprehend him and gardaí were called. He was arrested at the scene.

In the meantime, a second man fled from the store in a car which a garda spokesman said is believed to have been stolen.

The spokesman said the vehicle was involved in a single vehicle collision a short time later and the driver was also arrested.

One of the men is in his late teens while the second is in his early 20s.

They are being held in Gurranabraher garda station.
