A precious wedding ring has been reunited with its owner, four years after it was lost.

The wedding band was handed into Bandon Garda station in 2016 and was recently returned to its rightful owner after a long search.

It was found on the beach in Rosscarbery and the inscription said "Sara 20/6/2008".

Luckily, Sara and her partner Declan, who lost the ring, were found.

The original Facebook post reached 100,000 people.

Declan and Sara said that from the bottom of their hearts they wanted to thank the person who handed the ring into [the Gardaí].

The Gardaí and the couple also thanked everyone who shared the post on Facebook, and the Garda property store staff, Trish and Damien, who helped get the ring back on the right finger.

It's a true feelgood Friday story.
