Woman arrested and drugs and mobile phones destined for prison seized in Cork

A woman has been arrested and drugs and mobile phones which gardaí believe were destined for prison have been seized.
The arrest was made as part of an ongoing operation to disrupt the supply of drugs and contraband to prisoners attending Mallow District Court.
Gardaí from the Mallow District Drugs Unit, with assistance from the Mallow District Detective Unit and the Regional Dog Unit carried out an operation this morning and searched a number of people in the vicinity of Mallow Court House.

A women, aged in her 20s, was arrested after being found in possession of €500 of suspected cannabis herb. She is currently being detained.
A second woman, aged in her late teens, was found in possession of suspected cannabis, heroin and large quantity of tablets worth approximately €500.

She was also found to be in possession of two mobile phones. No arrest was made following this search. Investigations are ongoing.
Gardaí believe the items seized were destined for a prisoner in custody on remand from a prison.
