A first-party appeal has been lodged with An Bord Pleanála after Cork County Council refused permission for a guest house development in Kinsale.

Deni Noel O’Mahony applied for planning permission in December last year, which proposed the demolition of an existing retail until - the Kinsale Tile Store - which is located at Guardwell, Town-plots, Kinsale.

He then proposed the construction of a 13-bedroom guest house in its place, along with a dining room, professional kitchen and reception area, as well as connection to public services, and other site works.

However, the local authority’s planning department refused permission on February 11.

An Bord Pleanála is now reviewing the application by Mr O’Mahony, and the case is due to be decided by July 13.
