Cork school burglar suspect arrested and charged

A man has been arrested and charged in relation to a burglary at a school in Cork.

The arrest has been made yesterday, following an investigation into the incident in Bandon which occurred on Tuesday, 23 April at 2am.

The 30-year-old was being detained at Bandon Garda Station under Section four of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 and will appear before Bandon District Court later this month.

Speaking at Bandon Garda Station, Crime Prevention Officer Sergeant James O’Donovan said schools should be wary of leaving money on the premise.

“With the summer holidays approaching I would like to remind all schools not to leave cash on site.

“When collecting money for school tours or after hosting fundraising events like a coffee morning, ensure that there is a system in place to deposit the money.”
