A TWO-MONTH jail term was imposed on young woman who confessed to two counts of shoplifting at stores in Cork city.
Nadia Halligan, aged 27, of no fixed address admitted charges that on October 31, 2019, at Penney’s on Patrick Street she stole clothing worth €58.
On July 15 at Vision Express on Patrick Street she stole sunglasses valued at €95.
Judge Olann Kelleher was told she cooperated with the Garda investigation.
Eddie Burke, solicitor, said the young woman was originally from Waterford and came to live in Cork but was evicted because of the forced sale of the property.
Mr Burke said that following a period of living homeless she got accommodation in Tralee with her partner.
However, events caught up with her and she got a two-month sentence for other offences recently in Bandon.
Judge Kelleher imposed another two months sentence on her for the two thefts in Cork city.
