Mercy suspends appointments and elective surgeries

The Mercy University Hospital has temporarily suspended outpatient appointments and elective surgeries at the facility.

In a statement this afternoon the hospital said it was initiating a significant reduction in activity between now and March 29, in the interests of “community, patients and staff”.

The following appointments and procedures are cancelled:

- All out-patients appointments are cancelled with effect from Monday next (March 16).

- All elective surgery is being cancelled with effect from Monday next (March 16) 

- All day case procedures, inclusive of endoscopic and pain procedures are being cancelled with effect from Monday next (March 16).

The hospital said there will be some exceptions to address critical needs. “In such cases patients will be contacted directly by the hospital and provided with appointment details,” it said.

“Please do not attend the hospital unless you are contacted by the hospital and provided with a specific appointment,” it added.
