Cork University Hospital is today (Monday, April 20th) delivering its first batch of letters to patients as part of a new initiative to support patients, and their families and friends during the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is inviting people to email a letter to a loved one who is a patient at the hospital, and it will then print the email, put it in an envelope, and deliver it within 24 hours.

The initiative will run Monday to Friday, with letters received at the weekend, or on public holidays, delivered the next working day.

It follows similar initiatives introduced at Tallaght University Hospital and at the Royal Hospital in Donnybrook.

People can email their letters to patients to cuh.patientletters@hse.ie.

These should include the patient’s full name, ward name and first line of the patient’s home address in the subject line.
