GARDAÍ have praised the generosity of a young Cork girl, who gave her Confirmation money to Bandon Community Hospital to help their efforts against coronavirus.

Libby Fallon, aged 11, was due to make her Confirmation tomorrow but the religious ceremony has been postponed due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

The Kilbrittain youth decided to give the money that she received from relatives to help the local drive against the virus.

Posting on the Garda Síochána - Cork, Kerry & Limerick - Southern Region Facebook page, gardaí said:

"Wonderful Gesture! Libby Fallon-Faley is 11 years old, and lives in Kilbrittain. She was due to make her Confirmation on Monday.

"It was postponed due to Covid-19. Libby wanted to donate the money she received as Confirmation gifts to Bandon Community Hospital. Libby is a pupil at Kilbrittain National School."

Garda Jacinta O'Leary and Garda John O'Neill from Bandon Garda Station delivered Libby's gift to Director of Nursing Breda O'Donovan at Bandon Community Hospital.
