THERE were light snowfalls in parts of Cork today as Met Eireann's Status Yellow weather warning came to an end.

A frost and ice warning had been in place overnight, coming to an end at 8am.  The conditions led to dangerous road surfaces for early morning commuters.

The rest of Monday is set to be cold with Met Éireann predicting "widespread frost and icy patches clearing during the morning".

The forecaster predicts some wintry showers in places, especially on higher ground, turning to rain in most locations.

The latest warning comes as assessments continue in the aftermath of Storm Jorge, which battered the west and the midlands at the weekend.

There are more than 30 minor roads closed by flooding across south Co Galway.
