A young woman who got intoxicated during a family night out shouted at gardaí on Grange Road in Douglas – “Arrest me, arrest me.”

Shane Collins-Daly, defence solicitor, said Margaret Rose Keenan of 4 Meelagh View, Mahon, Cork, pleaded guilty to a charge of being drunk and a source of danger.

“She accepts she was intoxicated. She had been out a family occasion. This was out of character for her,” Mr Collins-Daly said.

Judge Olann Kelleher imposed a €150 fine on the accused.

Sergeant John Kelleher said the intoxicated behaviour came to the attention of gardaí at Grange Road, Douglas on June 9 2019.
