THERE is further cold weather on the way for Cork overnight tonight, as Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow Snow/Ice warning.

The warning, for the entire country, comes into place at midnight tonight, until 8am on Monday morning.

According to Met Éireann, the western half of the country will be affected by showers overnight - some of which will be sleety.

There is also the possibility of snow in some places.

Lowest temperatures overnight are expected to reach zero degrees or below, which could result in some icy stretches on roads and footpaths by morning.
