Gardaí appeal for witnesses to Cork city shooting

GARDAI investigating a shooting in Mahon are appealing for help from the public.

The incident on St Patrick's Day is not believed to be connected with a shooting incident the previous day at Ard Bhaile in Mayfield.

Two people were questioned and released without charge yesterday in connection with the Ard Bhaile incident.

This morning, gardaí are urging the public to come forward with any information they have in relation to the incident on Avenue de Rennes at approximately 11.45pm on St Patrick's Night. Nobody was injured in the incident and gardaí are trying to establish a motive for the incident.

Gardai got a call that shots were fired at the front door of a house in the area.

Searches were carried out by the Armed Support Unit and the Southern Region Dog Unit, and a technical examination of the scene was carried out.

No arrests have yet been made.
