Cork singer Elly O'Keeffe's musical TV journey came to an end on Saturday night when she was eliminated from The Voice UK.
Elly wowed the judges with her rendition of Halo by Beyonce, but her mentor, Tom Jones, picked another contestant to go through to the semi-finals.
The 31-year-old from Knocknagree, who is a music teacher based in London, spoke of her delight at meeting one of her heroes, country music star Shania Twain, in rehearsals, who was advising her mentor, Jones.
"I used to listen to you as a kid," Elly told her, "you're amazing."
When she performed Halo on the Virgin Media 1 show, the judges lavished her with praise. Will.i.am said: "You made me forget Beyonce sang it, your high notes hit the stratosphere."
Jones said she did a "wonderful job" and was a "beautiful singer" but selected Elly's rival Lois Moodie to go through.
The Saturday night episode of The Voice UK had been pre-recorded in front of a live audience, and the producers announced that the show would now be postponed until later in the year, owing to the coronavirus outbreak.
