Gardaí in Cork have seized heroin, Xanax, ecstasy and cocaine with a combined estimated street value of €237,000, and have arrested two men, in two separate operations.
On Thursday morning, gardaí attached to the Cork City Divisional Drugs Unit seized approximately half a kilo of suspected heroin during the course of a search operation in a house.
The drugs have an estimated street value of €70,000.
A man, who is aged in his 40s, was arrested at the scene and taken to Mayfield Garda Station where he is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
In a second search on Thursday afternoon, which took place in an industrial premises, gardaí seized a quantity of heroin, Xanax tablets, ecstasy and cocaine.
These drugs have an estimated street value of €167,000, and will be sent for analysis.
A man, who is aged in his 30s, was arrested during the second search operation and is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at Togher Garda Station.
Gardaí said investigations are ongoing.
