Woman accused of child cruelty fails to appear in Cork court

Judge Kelleher issued a warrant for the arrest of the 30-year-old woman.

A woman accused of child cruelty failed to appear in Cork District Court for the case against her yesterday.

The case was called at Courtroom 1 yesterday morning and the accused was called outside the court where defendants and witnesses were waiting for cases to be called.

Judge Olann Kelleher was told that the woman was not present.

On the application of Sergeant Gearóid Davis, Judge Kelleher issued a warrant for the arrest of the 30-year-old woman so that she could be brought to court in custody to face the charge against her.

She is accused of cruelty to a child on April 21 2018.

Because of the restrictions under the Children’s Act it is not possible to publish any facts that might lead to the identification of the child in this case. For that reason the defendant is not identified.
