Clarks is to close its store on Patrick Street following a review of its store network.

The company has confirmed that after “careful consideration” it has decided to no longer trade at city centre location.

A spokesperson for the company said the Clarks continually reviews all of its stores to ensure “that they are the right size and located in the right areas in order to provide the best possible offering and environment” to its customers.

“After careful consideration, we have decided to no longer trade at St. Patrick Street in Cork," they said in a statement.

Seventeen people are employed at the store and the spokesperson said it was now working closely with staff from the store as “they now go through a period of consultation.”

The company will continue to operate its store at Mahon Point.
