CHURCH Road in Douglas is closed for six weeks to facilitate the installation of a new culvert outside Douglas Community Park as part of the Douglas flood relief scheme.

Westbrook Gardens can be accessed from Douglas West, while the Community Centre and Ravensdale can be accessed from the East of Church Road.

Flood defence works were completed in St Patrick Mills in March.

Those works included road surface reinstatement and line markings in the car park.

Following the implementation of government restrictions in relation to Covid-19, construction on the scheme was suspended but resumed earlier this month.

The overall scheme will see the existing culverts on the Tramore River between Lehenaghmore Industrial Estate and Greenwood Estate in Togher upgraded, alongside flood alleviation measures along the Tramore River/Ballybrack stream.

The aim of the project is to provide the required standard of flood protection to properties in the area.
