Almost one in four people waiting for beds at hospitals around the country today, are waiting at Cork hospitals.
Figures published by the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) show 117 admitted patients are waiting for beds nationally; 110 are waiting in the emergency department, while seven are in wards elsewhere in the hospital.
In Cork, 19 people are waiting for beds at Cork University Hospital while nine patients are waiting at the Mercy University Hospital.
All of these patients are waiting in the hospital's emergency departments.
There are no patients waiting for beds at Bantry General Hospital.
Today’s figure is a slight decrease on yesterday when 30 admitted patients were waiting for beds at Cork hospitals.
