A nine-month suspended jail term was imposed on a woman caught with a kitchen knife and a screwdriver when she was searched at the Lee Fields in Cork.
The search of Katie Nugent of no fixed address was carried out on October 7, 2019.
Judge Olann Kelleher imposed the jail term on her yesterday at Cork District Court but suspended it on condition that the accused would not commit another offence within the next two years.
Eddie Burke, solicitor, said the probation report on the accused was quite favourable and said she was clean of drugs and taking steps for further rehabilitation.
Judge Kelleher said, “It is a serious offence, carrying weapons like that.”
However, he said he was prepared to impose the suspended prison sentence on the accused who is in her mid-thirties.
