House on the northside of Cork city sealed off for forensic examination following a fire

Gardaí and fire services attended at the scene of a house fire at Nash’s Boreen, Upper Fairhill earlier this evening. 

Gardaí in Cork have sealed off a house on the northside for forensic examination following a fire.

The incident took place at Nash’s Boreen, Upper Fairhill shortly after 6pm this evening. 

Crews from Ballyvolane and Anglesea Street quickly brought the blaze under control and no injuries have been reported as a result of the fire. 

The circumstances of the fire are under investigation and Gardaí say they are following a definite line of enquiry. 

In a statement they said:

"Gardaí and fire services attended at the scene of a house fire at Nash’s Boreen, Upper Fairhill, Cork on Tuesday 14th July 2020. 

"The alarm was raised at approximately 6.15pm. 

"The fire was brought under control a short time later by Fire Services personnel and the scene is preserved for technical and forensic examination. 

"There are no reports of any injures. 

"The circumstances of the fire are under investigation. 

"It’s understood Gardaí are following a definite line of enquiry and are appealing for witnesses to contact them at Gurranabraher Garda Station 021 494 6200."
