Gardaí appeal for witnesses to serious Cork city centre assault

CCTV has been gathered from the surrounding area and gardaí are waiting to interview the victim in the coming days.

A woman remains in hospital this morning following a serious assault in the city on Monday night.

Gardaí have issued a witness appeal for the incident that occurred on Railway Street between 8pm and 9.30pm.

The alarm was raised around 9.30pm, when gardaí received a call about an unconscious woman.

The woman, who is in her 30’s, was taken to Cork University Hospital with what are said to be serious injuries.

CCTV has been gathered from the surrounding area and gardaí are waiting to interview the victim in the coming days.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who was in the surrounding area of Kent Railway Station, Railway Street, Alfred Street, and Andersons Quay between 8pm and 10pm, particular road users with camera footage, to contact Mayfield Garda Station on 021 4558510, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
