Mallow College of Design and Tailoring is hosting a virtual fashion show to showcase the hard work of its students throughout the current pandemic.

The fashion show celebrating the students and their collections usually sees 500 guests at the Clayton Hotel in Silversprings but this year the college is aiming to get as many viewers as possible on its Facebook live event this Friday.

Tutor at the college, Jess Lucas, said that students “deserved their moment of glory” and that the aim of the virtual event was that everyone who attends the college and their families could sit together and watch the work that has been put in.

“This time of year is such a buzz and so exciting because you see all the collections come together and people see other peoples’ work and they’re all delighted with what they have achieved," she said.

"We feel a little bit sad not to be able to do it but we’re pushing ourselves.”

The part-time college has approximately 90 students who will be involved in showcasing their work and their three tutors, Ms Lucas, principal of the school Mary Casman, and Sue Pearce “couldn’t be more proud”.
