Gardaí have arrested two men and seized €55,000 worth of cocaine during an intelligence led operation targeting the sale and supply of controlled drugs in Cork city yesterday.
"At approximately 5.30pm, Gardaí conducted a surveillance operation and observed a significant drug transaction in the Ballincollig area," a Garda spokesperson said.
"As a result of this, a number of searches were conducted in a vehicle and two residential premises.
"During the course of these searches, cocaine (pending analysis) with an estimated street value of €55,000 and a number of items relating to the sale and supply of drugs, were seized."
Two men, aged in their 40s, were arrested during the course of the operation.
Both are currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 in Gurranabraher and Mayfield Garda Stations respectively.
Gardaí say investigations are ongoing.
