Cork fire service respond to dozens of bonfire call outs despite pleas for public to stay home 

Crews were accompanied on call outs by gardaí but the spokesman said there were no incidents of attacks on fire crews last night.

CORK City Fire Service responded to around thirty call outs about bonfires overnight.

A spokesman for the Fire Service said there were no major incidents, and added that the weather was a help in preventing large numbers of bonfires.

Crews were accompanied on call outs by gardaí but the spokesman said there were no incidents of attacks on fire crews last night.

In recent days, Cork City Council, Cork City Fire Brigade and An Garda Síochána urged the public to be responsible on Bonfire Night.

They produced a video appeal, asking people not to light bonfires.

They urged people to stay at home and enjoy entertainment provided by Cork City Council.
